Bluebells, Picnic & Pictures at Beautiful Blackbury Camp

I’m so excited to be teaming up with the wonderful Bethan at Little Devon for a laid back picnic celebration of all things bluebell at Blackbury Camp. This is an amazing spot at any time of year but the bluebells & beech trees make it extraordinary for a few precious weeks in spring.

Come along with your little ones and enjoy a picnic and I will quietly take you off for a personalised few minutes amongst the bluebells for some individual photos.

When is it?

The original date is Monday 9th May (but we’ll hold Monday 16th as a back up in case of inclement weather). We’ll be there from 9.30-11.30am.

Due to the overwhelming demand for this event, we have now released a second date to people on the waiting list. This date is Friday 13th May, again 9.30-11.30.

Where is it?

Blackbury Camp Southleigh, Colyton, Devon, EX24 6JE. (what3words ///personal.aliens.sings). If you’ve not been before then you’re in for a treat, it’s absolutely stunning.

What’s the cost?

£30 for the session. I will take you away from the group for some private time where you can explore the bluebells and I will capture the moments. I’ll then go away and professionally edit the images and provide you with 3 pictures which you can download. It might be that I end up with more than 3 great images. If this is the case, I will let you see them all and you can opt to purchase everything for a total cost of £50 (ie an extra £20) (Please note that I cannot guarantee extra images but we both feel it’s important to be clear on how much it will cost so there's no worry that you will find you need to spend more than was first advertised. There are no other costs involved!)

What do I need to bring?

Yourselves and a picnic. That’s all. We both share the philosophy is that everyone is more comfortable in their regular clothes and comfort will make for more relaxed and natural images, so come along in what you’d normally wear. Are spaces limited?

Yes, they are! We really want to keep this quiet and sociable so for this reason we are limiting the day to a maximum of 7 families. By keeping it small, we can all get to know each other and have a natter while also capturing some beautiful memories. We are also very keen to ensure that we respect this beautiful corner of our gorgeous county and are therefore keeping it small and low key. Unfortunately this does mean that we are not able to open it up to school age children this year. We will be very mindful of how it goes and if we feel we could safely open it up to an older audience in future we will do.)

A few things to note:

1. Places are limited to 7 families on a first come first served basis;

2. We are aiming for 9th May for the first date and 13th May for the second date, to capitalise on the best of the bluebells but nature can be unpredictable (both flowers and weather) so please keep 16th May free as a back up in case of inclement weather or late flowering bluebells. All other details will remain the same. If we are not able to make either date because the weather fails us, we will refund the money;

3. The package includes 3 high resolution images which you will be able to download from the online viewing gallery. If we get more images in the time available, I will provide them for you to see and you can choose to purchase them all for a total price of £50 (ie an additional £20). If you would like printed images, get in touch and we can discuss options but there are no other hidden costs;

4. The cost is non-refundable if the event goes ahead but you aren’t able to make it;

5. Bring your own picnic and join the gang when you arrive;

6. We are using nature’s beauty for this event and we need to respect it. Therefore, we need to be careful to use the bluebells without destroying them, so please keep to the paths wherever possible and we can leave the area as we found it;

7. The main paths are buggy friendly but the smaller ones might not be;

8. No dogs on this occasion please.
