Enjoying your Portraits

Making the Most of your Pictures

So, the postie’s delivered your package of pictures. Now what?

Hopefully you are really excited to receive your prints and USB if that’s what you opted for. Make it a priority to do something with them.

Back up Immediately!

I know, I know! That’s not the most exciting first step, but it’s so important. Depending on your preference, I will have provided your digital files on a USB stick or via the download function on the gallery.

Whichever option you went for, now do something else as well. If you have the USB then also share them to the cloud. If you downloaded them, then save them to another hard drive. Better still, do both!

There are so many services out there but iCloud, Amazon Photos, Google Photos & Dropbox are a few of the better known ones.

I save to the cloud and also have an external hard drive so I’m double backed up and keep all clients’ edited images, so if you do lose things, don’t panic! Drop me a message and I should be able to retrieve them. (I should point out that contractually I only need to keep them for 3 months, so I can’t guarantee anything over that but in reality I try keep them for years.)

The best thing about a picture is that it never changes, even when the people in it do.
— Andy Warhol

Display in your home

The reason I provide prints as well as the digital is so that you have something tangible to display as it’s so easy to put off getting digital files printed.

Displaying images of your family makes your home unique to you. You’ve got so many options that I’ve written a blog post about it.

I’m always curious to know where my pictures end up so feel free to share your display with me, I’d love to see what you’ve done.
